Desperate now to get away
she felt she could no longer stay,
no joy to life… no room to play,
off down the road toward the bay.

She couldn’t take another night
shut in her room away from light,
a broken heart with no more fight
her one recourse to take to flight.

Bullied by many; God knows who!
was beaten till she’s black and blue,
within herself she must be true,
what are her sins? she has no clue.

No ears to hear her silent plea,
she must escape… set herself free
from his abuse doled out with glee,
running away, a refugee.

She’s leaving home… can't take the hate
